Where function meets form

Project  : Shankus Superspeciality hospital, Himmatnagar

Scope : Concept, End-to-end planning & design

Beds/ Area :150+ beds, 1,18,000 sq ft

The architecture of Shankus Superspeciality Hospital articulates strength and sophistication through form and material. Wrapped in terracotta-hued bricks, the building balances solidity with openness. Deep-set fenestration and vertical fins provide thermal insulation while breaking the monotony with rhythm and depth. The large glazed surfaces reflect the lush surroundings, bringing softness to the structural geometry.

A Grand Yet Grounded Entrance

The V-columned canopy at the main entry is both functional and iconic — providing shade, direction, and a strong architectural identity. Textured concrete panels and restrained branding lend a monumental feel to the facade without overwhelming its purpose. The design speaks to efficiency and permanence, establishing trust before one even steps inside.

Reception, Redefined

The reception area is stripped of excess and optimised for movement, clarity, and professionalism. A grid of neutral panels with integrated lighting acts as both backdrop and branding surface. The matte black reception desk anchors the space, while layered illumination adds depth without distraction. Materials and tones are chosen for their durability, ease of maintenance, and visual calm — qualities essential to high-traffic clinical environments.

Clinical Design That Works

Each consultation space is designed for focus and flow. Warm wood tones meet contemporary lighting to create zones that feel personal, not procedural. A mix of display niches, soft textures, and custom-built millwork adds dimension to the compact footprint. Wall-mounted certifications and curated decor reinforce professionalism, while clean spatial divisions prioritise both patient privacy and functional storage.

Furniture with a Purpose

The public seating is robust, modular, and hygienic — made for constant use without visual fatigue. In contrast, private consulting areas feature ergonomically sculpted chairs and purpose-built workstations, designed to support long consultations without strain. Finishes resist wear while complementing the design palette.

Space That Communicates Clarity

Wayfinding is intuitive by design. Vertical visual cues, consistent materials, and logical zoning eliminate confusion and streamline movement — critical in high-pressure hospital settings. The architecture doesn’t just house care, it supports it.

A Modern Language of Healthcare

From facade to furnishings, the design of Shankus Superspeciality Hospital is a study in contemporary healthcare environments. It moves beyond sterile minimalism to create a language of warmth, clarity, and assurance — proving that clinical need and architectural character can co-exist seamlessly.
